Where is the memorial?
Strawberry Fields lies on Central Park’s west side near the West 72nd Street entrance. It is a landscaped memorial to John Lennon that includes the Imagine mosaic. The Central Park Conservancy guide identifies it as a quiet zone and notes that there are no restrooms at the site.
What is there to see?
The memorial is a landscape of paths, trees and benches as well as the well-known mosaic. Yoko Ono worked with the Conservancy on its design, and the mosaic was a gift from the city of Naples. The memorial was dedicated in 1985. These details are described in the Conservancy’s history of the site.
Give other visitors space around the mosaic and keep paths clear. People may be there to reflect, so allow room and respect the character of the memorial.
How to fit it into your day
